from the heArt: snail mail is the best kind of mail

I may be a nerd for this but I will embrace it through and through, I love sending mail. I put on my 101 list to send snail mail and even though this was checked off months ago, I still find delight in sending little fun gifts. The most recently sent mail were Frisbees! 

That's right y'all, you can send anything straight through the mail. Just slap an address on a side and there is goes, sending little love to those dearest to me...

Number 55: whiten my teeth

Yup! No shame! I felt that my teeth looked dingy and I wanted to do something about it! So I got my teeth whitened and knew that I couldn't pass up the chance of getting a photo all set up. I'm not totally sure how much of a change it made, so maybe next I'll try getting a tan to make them shine a little brighter!

from the heART: "road trip somewhere?"

Number 30: Go on a spontaneous trip.

Friday night receiving the text message "Road trip somewhere?" How could I possibly say no? My response, "Savannah!" So we did. 

Cheryl and I left the next morning at 8:00 am and headed on down. No plans, no worries. We found a hotel, checked in, then off we went to explore the city, with our to-go-cup sangria's in hand of course. We ventured to Wormsloe Plantation where the entrance is lined with 1.5 miles of oaks which we deemed "Wormsical". Once of my favorite things, is when there is a canopy of trees that meet in the middle. Wormsloe indeed had this going on and quickly became one of my favorite places. From there we made our way to Tybee beach and followed the "turtle" signs which lead us to a fun little lighthouse.

We went to dinner at VinnieVanGoGo's which was a recommendation of my favorite older sister, who lived in Savannah for four years while attending SCAD. It did not disappoint and I could have eaten loads more than I did! After a quick rest and change, we headed out for the night to explore River Street. 

Sunday we grabbed some lunch at Zunzi's and it could have been the best sandwich ever! Then went to the candy factory for some sweets before shopping. It was a spontaneous trip that couldn't have gone better had we tried to plan. Living in Charlotte with so many fascinating cities within a four hours drive has really been lovely to just go and explore! I fear becoming to set in my ways and being able to travel with good friends in new places is always a wonderful break from the day to day life that is so easy to become accustom.

from the heART: round two, huge improvement

My mom came to Charlotte ... again and this time it was way better! 

The first trip out to Charlotte was for my "look-see" trip before actually moving here. It consisted mainly of trying to find a place for me to live which turned into me being frantic almost the entire time, driving around getting lost because the roads start as one name, change into another, then change back into its original, drinking coffee and nearly having a break down because I didn't find a place to live. 

Move forward seven months. Living and loving Charlotte and the place that I did find to live, Mom was back and ready for a do-over! This time I was able to show her the city and know where I was going (for the most part). We hiked, we ate, we shopped, it snowed and then we ate even more! It was wonderful having her here and I'm so grateful that she was able to see my life in this new city! Love you Mom!

from the heART: limo race or excuse to dress up?

Limo race, scavenger hunt, bar crawl, and a prom theme that we turned into James Bond, how could the night fail? Good question and the answer is, the night was far from a fail! It was a blast running around Charlotte in our personal limo for the night. Sure there was probably a point to the night and nope, sure don't have a clue what it was. Had there been a category to see which team had the most fun, we surely would have received high marks.

There is something about receiving mail and more specifically, snail mail, that is so lovely! Between the bills and junk mail, when there is a little something personal, I believe it can really brighten someones day.

Call me crazy, but I might enjoy sending mail just as much as receiving it. Taking the time to address the package with a little artsy flare just makes me smile! I've heard it many times before and believe it to be true, that everything is designed, so why not make it beautifully designed! 

from the heART: more wine please

Number 64: go on a wine tour was a very fun one to cross off the list. A small group took a short day trip a little outside Charlotte and went to a couple of vineyards. It was a relaxing day tasting wine and spending time with new friends. So for any friends that want to come visit and like wine, I know exactly where to go. 

 

from the heART: MGJ

There are few moments in life that seem to have a tendency to make me reflect upon how I am living my life and if I am doing good. The passing of my dear sweet grandma Mary Jane a couple weeks ago now is one of those moments. Thinking back on the time spent with her and grandpa growing up only bring good memories to mind. Going over to their house to swim in their pool, visiting them each and every halloween to show off our costumes (and without fail she would have the best package for us filled with candy and movies), and playing their slot machine. 

On our more recent visits, we would catch her up on the happenings of our lives and normally answer her questions regarding our love lives. Followed by her telling us what that month or year had in store for each of us regarding our astrological sign. I will always remember MGJ as such a positive, witty, always happy grandma who loved us and we loved very much.
